What is Gonorrhea?
- It's a bacteria that causes infections.
How do you get Gonorrhea?
- One common way to get Gonorrhea is to have unprotected sex with a partner that is infected with Gonorrhea.
How do I know if I have Gonorrhea?
- If a guy has symptoms, he may have burning when he urinates (pees) and/or a discharge (a liquid that comes out of his penis that is not normal).
- Sometimes a guy may not have symptoms or those symptoms may go away, but he may still test positive for gonorrhea. He would need to take medicine to be cured.
- So if you have had unprotected sex, it is important to get tested and CURED, if you have it!
How do I get tested for Gonorrhea?
- There is a NEW WAY to get tested by giving a URINE TEST for Gonorrhea. Some places have it; some place still use a swab into the penis to test.
- DO NOT ASSUME that just because a doctor took urine from you that it is being sent for Gonorrhea! Ask the doctor exactly what tests he/she is ordering.
Is it Curable
- YES. So if you have had unprotected sex, it is important to get tested and CURED, if you have gonorrhea!
It's also important to have your sexual partners treated.
