A Typical Visit to the Young Men's Clinic

Your visit to the YMC will be different depending on a few things, for example whether you are coming for the first time or for a revisit, and whether you do or don't have a scheduled appointment. When you enter the clinic you will register at the front desk. While you complete some paperwork and tell us about your health history, one of the staff will show health education videos and talk with patients who are sitting in the waiting room about important health topics. After you finish registering you will be called by a doctor, health educator, social worker, or a medical assistant. We will check your blood pressure, height, and weight, and vision. You may also be asked to give us a urine sample. We use the urine to check for sexually transmitted infections called Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. You will be asked if you want an HIV test. After you have your medical exam, you will stop at the front desk so you can make your next appointment.
